they are at least semi-interoperable. dtm can provide omen with threat  
info, and doesn't need others to have it to function. i have both  
installed, and they do play nice. lately i just keep omen hidden but  
let it provide info for other omen users. omen is rumored to be more  
accurate, but dtm works even if others don't have threat meters  
(useful for pugs) and has a nice summary window for tanks to show how  
far ahead (or, ick, behind) I am in threat on all mobs. actually, come  
to think of it, i think omen has that now too, but not sure you can  
have both windows open like you can in dtm.

i think it will provide accurate more detailed info to addons rather  
than just blizzard's own display, but not 100% sure.
